What is SAC?
A School Advisory Council is a group made up of school staff, parents, students, and community members. Its main job is to help improve student achievement and ensure that schools meet the needs of all learners. Every public school in Florida is required by law (Florida Statute 1001.452) to have a SAC.
Typical SAC responsibilities include:
Reviewing the school’s School Improvement Plan (SIP)
Assisting in decision-making related to academic programs, budgeting, and resource use.
Providing input on how certain funds, like School Improvement Funds, are spent.
Serving as a communication bridge between the school and the wider community.
